ok first thing first with out custom fenders hood and all that the only way to put the f-150 front end is a fiberglass set up (prerunner is the most comin) if you can rework metal you can do any front end you need to. now as for the ranger front ends the core support is the biggest problem. from 93 to 97 is all the same they had different grills and some minor changes but it was all interchangeable. from 98 to 00 is for sure the same and from 01-03 is another set of years that interchange. and from 04-06 i think but not sure. im not to up to date on the newer stuff but most ppl swap out for the honeycomb grills from ether the 01-03 or the 05 triple honeycomb front ends

The 1st gen was 83-88. 2nd gen was 89-92. Both of these were basically the same with the front end differences and the later years getting the 4.0 instead of the 2.9. These trucks had the twin I-beam or Twin traction beam if 4x4. 1993 was the first year of the curve rounded style. 93-94 kept the same interior as the 89-92 Ranger and 91-94 Explorer. 95-97 was the same exterior with the updated interior. Pretty much the chassis/ frame/ suspension was the same from 83-97 with some upgrades along the way in various parts. 1998 had a totally different front suspension and frame all together. The 2wd were coil sprung IFS while the 4x4 were torsion bar suspension. 98-00 had the same body and then it changed again in 01. 01 also saw the 4.0 SOHC engine as well.

Not much other than interior parts will transfer to 97 and older without modification. For front end parts, you can put a 98+ front grille, headlights, etc. but you have to use the newer core support and make modifications for the radiator.

EDIT: Badinten beat me to it, but I don't feel like erasing all the stuff I just typed. lol

The true F150 front is a little difficult since the F150 is so much wider than the Ranger. Most of the ones you've seen (as BADINTEN mentioned) were probably fiberglass front ends.

To do most front-end swaps you will need:

Fenders
Hood
Core Support w/ Hood Latch
Bumper
Headlights
Corner Lights
Grill
Header Panel

93-06 basicly but youll need everything danny said and you might have to paint it if its not the same.

Yeah, other than 93-97, there is no direct bolt-on front ends. You would need all the parts if you want to swap to a newer style.

The frames from 83-97 were the same. The frame changed in 1998.

I believe I read somewhere that there would be some slight modification to the core support for the mounts. But I don't know where I read that.
