Well i was considering putting a throttle body spacer on my 3.0 in my 98 ford ranger because i want to squeeze all the power i can out of the 3.0 in it. I have already bought headers when i had the custom exhaust put on it. So do you guys think a throttle body spacer will help me out with power? and if it will what brands do you guys recommend?

Thanks guys

Honest truth... no. You are not gonna get any noticable difference out of it unless you have a huge V8 pushing a ton of air through it. All it is, is a very expensive spacer that has ridges on the inside. You want air moving fast into the upper intake, not air that will spin and not go down the runners smoothly. We put one on a 05 Stang GT and felt nothing. I would say invenst in a intake, exhaust, pullies, and ignition system. And then theres a few things that im doing under the V6 thread that will gain small numbers just by tripping parts down on the throttle body.

Throttle bodies are good for putting a hole in your pocket and emptying hem out! lol... what all doyou have done to the 3.0?

I'm not a flowmaster fan. Too loud, too restrictive. Now a magnaflow straight through... Now that's a muffler. Barely noticeable at idle.. Roars when you mash it and has next to no restriction. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how they work. Smarter guys than me.

As for the throttle body spacers, they were designed to trick old guys.:) Basically way back when, you put a phenolic spacer between your carb and your intake manifold. This helped keep the intake charge cooler and helped straighten the airflow after the venturies. This helped pull the air through the carb straighter offering better atomization. So when EFI came along and the injectors started being put in the ports, all this became null and void. BUT, the old carb guys who bought a new mustang, camaro, etc still bought the spacers and believed the advertising. Of my various race cars I've tested just about every gimmick out there. I never noticed a thing with a throttle body spacer.
