Okay, I had a pretty productive day with my upper and lower intake and throttle body after a failed junkyard run.  Heres what my day was like...

First off I disconnected everything from my composite upper intake manifold and took it off the engine.



When I had that off I went ahead and soaked the crap out of it in throttle body cleaner.  I bought 4 cans for all of this and the upper intake manifold too 2 1/2 cans worth.  Heres some comparison of the before and after of the upper intake...

And then I worked on cleaning the top end of the lower intake manifold.

Then I went on to continue my plans with the throttle body.  I wanted to trip off some of the pin in the throttle body to allow more air to flow with less restriction that would create turbulance.  Sooo, I worked on it and ended up with this



This is the little piece that came out.  May be little but it did make a difference in acceleration when speed is already up.



So, I had to clear codes and drive it a lot after I put everything back on because there was still a bit of cleaner in the lower intake.  No big, it just caused a lot of misfiring and took 10 minutes of hard running to burn it all clean.  Now with a cleaner intake manifold and the extra room for air to pass in the throttle body it is preforming a little better.  Actually more than I thought since I figured I wouldnt feel a thing.  Took me 4 hours from the start of taking it apart to firing it back up.  Not bad for a days work.

thanks man.  Thats the first time ive ever taken the manifold off.  Learned a lot about my engine today!

Good on the engine to clean it like that!  I do that for the upper and lower intakes and then the seafoam on the rest of then engine.  Clean as a whistle!

yeah.  Today it was about 55 degrees with the sun out.  Perfect of working on the truck!

haha.  I still need to put my new stell tailgate handle on and change my Royal Purple oil out.

yup, tomorrow.  wont take long at all.  gonna use tough stuff on all the seats as well.  scotch gaurd!
