Nooo.  Most, if not all 4 bangers are the 7.5 and 3.0's came with both.  Im not too sure on the 4.0 some may be 7.5.

I am pretty sure the 09 XL has the 7.5.

Im running royal purple in my 8.8" Ford.  It took 2 1/2 quarts of it and cost me $60 for the fluid alone but its worth it to prevent excess friction and pressure.  I reccomend it!  I used 75w-90 i think.

Some times switching to full synthetic in an axle with some miles is a bad idea.  Since the oil is a bit thinner and the seals are a little worn.   You may have issues with it seeping a little around the axle and pinion seals.

Very true, good call Plum.  Im at 75000 in mine now but my fluid went in at 70000.  Of course RP has the friction modifier in it as well so it will work with or without LS.

Yea, it has grown, everybodys input is helping.

The money i saved on the axle puts me where i can replace seals, the brakes, change the fluid and maybe even go for some c-clip eliminators.

it doesnt need the seals but im going to do it right since im doing it.

And maybe I missed it, but since the ring gear and all is shot can i salvage the locker?

It has a richmond locker i'd love to throw in this open axle.

I dont really know much about rear wheel drive lockers and such, im sure when i break this case open ill probably answer the question myself, but we'll see.

Well, we got the new axle in today, filled it with some Lucas, bled the brakes and all and the truck is completely different when its riding smooth without the rear end clanking.

The old 7.5 was destroyed, we took the yoke off and it fell apart.

Okay i got it in this past weekend, just getting on here school has been rediculous.

the new one, $25 gotta paint that inspection cover though.

the old one look at the brake shoes, soaked in gear oil driver side was missing almost all of the hardware, when i took the yoke off to put it on the other rearend it the bolt fell in, this rear end was barely hanging on.
