Well, thought i was gonna get a new Pioneer DVD headunit but im holding off on it so here is my current setup:

Headunit is an older Sony Xplod:

And i dont have any pics of my new speakers but they are Pioneer TS-A6882R 4-way 280 watt max speakers.  Here is the link to the speaker's page:

Looks good!

its just rattle cans.  i took all that soft black stuff off, primer and sanded two times, and then did 3 coats of chrome yellow to match the chrome yellow exterior.

just scraped it up from the edges in using rough snadpaper.  when you get it all off and all just work down to smooth sandpaper and start primer.  primer with high grit paper 2 or 3 times and then 3 coats of paint.

Just a simple 250w Pioneer head unit.  And 150w Pioneers in the doors.

1100w Memphis Class D amp.  It fits under my console.

Two Memphis S-Class Subs.  In a homemade sealed box.

I also have a nice 1 farad cap, but Im still trying to decide where/hox to mount it.  It should be within 12" of the amp, but I dont really have any room that close.

mount it in the center of the subs

Thats too far from the amp and my power wire comes into the front side of the amp.  Not to mention I have a strap around the box that goes right down the center, but It wasnt there in the picture.   I will probably put it in the console and make a false bottom to cover it.

Post by: whiteboyfromgeorgia on January 03, 2010, 04:06:40 AM

Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: rngrdanny22 on January 03, 2010, 04:41:27 AM
I think you could do it in a thin enough layer where it wouldnt be too heavy... you would have to be really careful though...

That's pretty cool... I'm not 100% sure if it will fit your year model or not...

Are the speakers changeable... I mean, can you put your own speakers in it?

Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: rngrdanny22 on January 06, 2010, 12:56:38 AM
It shouldn't be too bad... unless you have to buy some tools...

even if you dont, it would be half that price at the cheapest... then you gotta ask yourself is saving $100 worth all the time you're gonna spend building it... LOL

But you can never go wrong with custom ;D

Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: BADINTEN on January 06, 2010, 04:33:16 AM
what the hell are you going to make it out of steel take out the old headliner resin over it and build some rings to screw to it and fiber glass over that i would put money on it i could do it for under two bills easy maybe even cheaper
Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: rngrdanny22 on January 06, 2010, 06:06:43 PM
I'm thinking it would probably run ~$100 for all the materials... not counting if he has to buy any tools or whatnot (to cut the rings/wood)...
Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: whiteboyfromgeorgia on January 06, 2010, 08:29:37 PM
i go to the car audio shop i use to work at and they will cut me out some rings thats free but the time and the cold weather is a b.itch and theres no room at my shop to do fiberglass right now

What manufacturer headunit is it?  There is a way to bypass the parking brake with it but differs in make.
Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: whiteboyfromgeorgia on January 17, 2010, 03:39:16 AM
the easy wat is to buy a togalswitch and ground the switch and take the wire from the head unit that says parking brake and plug it up to the switch and every time u want to watch tv just flip the switch

sick system man!  Thats some great work!  Are the 6x9 speakers 3 or 4-way?
Title: Re: *POST YOUR AUDIO SET UP*
Post by: Demon-FX4 on March 09, 2010, 12:25:55 AM
4 way man it took me 2 months to make it all and another month to tear the rear seat up and clean it up so it would fit in there and my front seats still could fully function over $1200 in the setup

Post by: Olfordtruck on March 09, 2010, 01:02:39 AM
its an impressive custom job and setup man!  Love the work and craftsmanship!  My Pioneer 6x9 speakers are 4-way as well.  Lots of bass can travel through those suckers!

haha, sweet.  If I had the money for everything I wanted in the truck then a custom setup for all of my system stuff would be up on that list!
